Everyone should get a background check who buys a gun that is just common sense.
Every gun I have ever bought I have had to get a background check done, One day I had to get two background checks done because I bought a .357 revolver at one store and a pump action shot gun at another, I didn't mind I knew I would pass them

Here's a funny one...when I was 12 I took my birthday money to the hardware store & bought a brand new .22 no questions asked. They threw in a gun case & a box of shells. The only requirement was I had to sign a notebook for the shells, stating that I had my parent's permission to have them.

That's how it used to be in Wisconsin... and in many other part of the country, years ago. I bought my first deer rifle, a 30.06 in Northern Wisconsin at a Coast to Coast....

Used to be an outdoor paradise. Most of those places are totally ruined now, but some of the northern parts are still intact. Lots of Coast to Coast stores around here back then...just about every town of any size had one.

The reason "Chuckie" Schumer believes universal background checks is the "sweet spot" of gun control is because he knows that it will require a registry of all gun owners in order to enforce. This of course is the "sour spot" all of us gun owners have been stating for years is the last step prior to confiscation. We are now at the crossroads your father, uncle etc. used to tell all of us about - "...son, one day the gov't will come after your guns" - and I would supplement that statement with "..when it is politically expedient to do so". That time is now. We must all stand up and fight.
These politicans will regret pushing this junk through at the fed level and at the state level. Gun owners and pro-gun folks all across the country are flooding the capitols to let your their voices be heard, however with total distain from the gun grabbers. They don't want to hear our voices, they could care less! They have an agenda to remove guns from society - period!
On the other hand however, the silence from the gun control advocates showing up to the do the same thing is deafening. When it comes down to it, they have their leftwing elected officials to do their bidding for them. And if they would truly think about it, what would they be pushing for? Your (our/their) guaranteed rights to be taken away? Your (our/their) right to protect ourselves at all times? The right for your neighbors and friends to not be able to protect themselves? That is nothing to be "pushing" for.

Clearly, Cons are so deep in the anus of the NRA and gun manufacturers that they'll block any attempt to prevent selling to madmen, wife beaters, felons, aliens, or the next Adam Lanza.

One is the fact that the Democrats are trying to transform them into a gun registration scheme. Another is the fact that the Democrats are putting law abiding citizens on the list of people prohibited from buying guns. Properly instituted background checks would probably not be a problem. But the system that is being proposed is far from anything that could be considered properly instituted background checks.

If anyone takes your guns it won't be the left, opposite in fact, the right will be the ones that do it as a a national security thing. But on a rational level neither side would attempt to do that.
