"Renegade Sam" is a newcomer to the scene. He showed up about a year ago, probably a dumpoff & practically feral. I started feeding him when it got cold & we quickly made friends. He had to tough the winter outside as the other two hate him. He's a good dude & happy here, but I'll need to try & find him a good home before it gets cold again, unless they all start getting along.

One cat got so freaky she started eating all the food, obsessively, until her stomach was dragging on the ground. I guess she thought the new cat would eat it all.

My kitties are inside critters. One of them, "Summer" was once attacked by coyotes and survived, which is remarkable. She also swallowed an entire spool of dental floss. Can you imagine? Nom nom nom nom until a whole roll was consumed and made its way into her intestines. Wonderful. The vet couldn't remove it without opening her up and my youngest daughter could not imagine putting her down, so parental guilt won the day and it cost me $1,600 to have her repaired. Today, she's almost 18, my daughter has moved away, I am responsible for the kitty and even though she is a petite little thing, her belly sways from side to side when she tries to lead me to her food dish every day. Such is the plight of a parent.
BTW: The kitty that lives upstairs is named "Whiskey" and looks just like Sam. All black short hair with big yellow eyes. I call her the "constantly surprised" kitty, cuz she always looks like she is about to bolt. She's a love bug though. More calm than her expression implies. Domesticated animals are so cool!

Yeah, those vet trips can run into money. In my 30 years here, I've had a total of 32 cats & 7 dogs pass through, most of them strays, sometimes sick or injured...or pregnant. How about the two cats that showed up within a couple days of each other & had their litters at the same time in the same box, lol! It was a crowded mess & I had no way of knowing whose was whose, so I just gave them each 4 kittens...they didn't seem to know or care. They both eventually split & left me with 8 new mouths to feed. I managed to find homes for 6, but ended up keeping 2.

LOL! I had two new half-grown beautiul, long haired cats waiting for me on New Year's Eve 1999/2000 when I showed up, very buzzed. They were crouching under the deck. They shared the name "Y2kitty" for the short time they spent with us. I captured them one at a time and took them for mandatory sterilization, lol, before I found homes for them.
