Does anyone still read books? I love them & have been avid all my life, often having 2 or 3 going at once, but have really slacked off the past few years. I was trying to thin out my library with a garage sale...must've had at least a couple hundred with something for just about any interest...I sold one...couldn't even give the rest away. Sad.
I'm pretty proud of my Stephen King collection...all in hardcover with several first editions.

Stephen King is cool, Do you got the four he published under the name Richard Bachman?
I like different kinds it depend on what I am in the mood for but my favorites are The Amityville Horror(I read it cover to cover the first night a I got it) and Orwell's 1984 and Animal.
I think what is doing in the paper book is ebooks and audiobooks they are easier for most people

I have a wide range of interests too, but don't seem to have the time anymore & whereas I used to burn through one in a night or two, I now fall asleep after a few pages, lol. Worst book I've ever read...Wuthering Heights.

The Stand & It are my fave SK books...I've read them both three times over the years. A lot of Koontz also, and John Saul in that genre. The TV adaptation & cast of IT was pretty good, I thought. They really blew it with The Stand, imo. I didn't feel most of those actors really fit the parts. "The Shining" miniseries seemed very close to the book & (with apologies to Jack Nicholson, lol) I thought was a lot better than the original movie.

Speaking of King what was Under The Dome like because the mini series looks like it's going to be good

i forgot the 'langoliers' that was close to his book as well. i am blanking on the title of one (i believe it was SK's) where a couple is pulled over in the desert by a sheriff, then taken to a town & locked up where as time goes by- the evil sheriff starts to decompose but is still alive?

Sounds familiar, but I can't quite place it. I'm picturing them in a camper, but that may be another story entirely.

Over the last two years I have read more than 105 Louis L'Amour books. I love them! I've read almost every single book L'Amour has written. I think all I have left is his non-fiction works, and his poetry book.
I bought paperback copies of all the books at Half-Price Books. I think my total investment for two years' worth of incredible entertainment is about $300 - that's about two months' worth of cable TV!
I now need to decide if I want to re-read the books, or try another Western author like Zane Grey. I think I'll give Grey a shot. I remember reading a book or two of his as a teenager and really liking them.
Prior to this, my favorite author was Dean Koontz. I've read most of his books but he kind of lost me when he started concentrating on dogs and Frankenstein.

My Dad's a big fan of L'Amour & Grey. I've read a few myself. Larry McMurtry's good too (Lonesome Dove)if your into westerns.

Speaking of King what was Under The Dome like because the mini series looks like it's going to be good I own it in soft cover. It was riveting but not a strong story line in the end. It also leaned heavily on describing small town politics and life. He is a popular author, I'd say it was worth reading. You mentioned a lot of people use ebooks these days. When I was reading the Dark Tower series I bought Wolves of the Calla as an ebook on the ipad, it was an enjoyable reading experience.

One day I'll have to sit down with the Dark Tower series & just start back at the beginning. I've never even gotten to the last two because I've forgotten so much of the storyline.

I'm pretty proud of my Stephen King collection...all in hardcover with several first editions. We have many shelves filled with books here. I don't read as much as I used to though. I love all kinds of fiction and non-fiction, reading was a way of life for many years. I'm also a pretty big fan of Stephen King as well. I think I still have the softcover edition from The Dark Tower series book, Wizard and Glass, from one of his book clubs. I also have a lot of his novels in paperback.
