I'll give ya a tidbit ... A 79 year old woman awoke from a 5 year coma and her first thoughts were that she wanted to see a Bob Seger concert ... it just happens that she's in Michigan and so is/ or was a Bob Seger concert, she got to attend and tickets to back stage events! www.rollingstone.com/music/news/weekend-rock-question-what-is-the-best-bob-seger-song-20130412I'd have to agree with her choice, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band is my choice, if one is all I can choose ... or a tie with The Eagles ... and my favorite songs of his, Old Time Rock and Roll, Shame on the Moon, Famous Final Scene, Fire Lake ... Against the Wind ... Still the Same ... Beautiful loser ... YES! all of his songs! If I can only vote for one song: He's a 'looker' too, no matter what his age is!

His voice the melody and the words couldn't fit any better with a guitar riff. One of my favorites.

That version of "Old Rock and Roll" was his 'younger' voice. It sounds different over the years as he matured. I should have posted this on the main board ... seems these alternate boards don't get much attention ... so thanks for your input ... this would have been fun to have more people choosing a song and tell why they think it's his best.

Isn't that true? The less then normal boards don't get much attention. Participation can change that. So lets go (!). Speaking of old timers, I was so fortunate a couple weeks ago to see Gordon Lightfoot at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach here in San Diego county. It was a mixed bag of pleasure and sorrow to see such a legend in his twilight. He has always been an artist worthy of admiration in my history. Never saw him live until this event. He's been on my bucket list for some time now. And as an old guy, the list is getting more attention these days. Anyway, he was wonderful. Played great guitar. But his voice was weak and he strained to hit the notes he is known for. Overall, he did a good job in this small venue. I am thankful. Peace be with you and yours.

You were fortunate to be able to see Gordon Lightfoot in concert, I have always loved his music, and I know he had been sick, and near death a few years ago ... that would add to any weakness he shows. There are some who stick their noses up at singers who continue to perform after a certain age ... where I think it's a sign of their love for the fans, as well as the limelight ... for most, it's what they love most, or know best ... more power to them. Gordon then: Gordon now:

Almost impossible to pick only one Bob Seger song, but I'll go with Turn the Page.
Congrats on seeing Gordon Lightfoot. I've always loved his music too. Sad to say I never saw him live.

Maybe not the best Seger song, but this is my favorite:

Some neat Bob Seger facts:
1. He was only doing OK until Don Felder of the Eagles told him the secret to making it big in rock and roll was to write power ballads. That's when he really took off 2. After listening to "Night Moves", I told my wife "That man is a big Bruce Springsteen fan, because the chord changes and the ending are straight out of 'Jungleland'. Trust me". A few years later we were listening to a rock show in the radio and I'll be darned if Seger himself didn't come right out and say the last 20 seconds of "Night Moves" were based on the ending to "Jungleland"!
Here's "Jungleland". Compare the ending of this song to the ending of "Night Moves".
The chord changes I'm talking about are when the guitars kick in. If any of y'all play guitar, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
