AS a kid, I lived to hate my mother's strange vow of poverty. It ended by the time I was twelve, and we moved to a proper house, but it took until I was away at college for them to get cable. The early years consisted of manipulating a needle nose pliers into a narrow hole to change the channel, and wrestling with the coat hanger antenna to keep it in place.
Some favorite shows from my era (my childhood I guess is what I mean) would include:
Bewitched Hogan's Heroes Nova Moonlighting (it started strong then ended up in the toilet) Hill Street Blues LA Law (I should have put ER on my other list..damn) St. Elsewhere Cheers Wild Wild West Mash
oh man, there were a lot of good ones, what am I getting myself into? Now they are all coming back to me...

Wow, where do I begin? Bonanza, Gunsmoke, The Virginian, High Chapparal, Rockford Files, Mannix, Ironside, Adam 12, Columbo, McCloud, Laugh In, Carol Burnett, Sonny & Cher, Wild Kingdom, Walt Disney...just to name a few, lol. And of course the Saturday morning cartoons where I'd be up at dawn, sitting with a mixing bowl full of cereal staring at the friggin' test pattern until airtime, lol. Hard to believe there were so many good shows on the two, (yes, two) channels we got & you actually had to get up & walk to the TV to change them...the horror, lol. And when we got our first color TV in 1970, now there was a whole new world.

Twilight Zone and its clone, The Outer Limits; That Was The Week That Was; Laugh In; Star Trek (but not the god-awful clone Lost in Space); Rockford Files (the wife hates it); WKRP to name a few

Cool, Snark. "She was a v-a-m-p..." Another one I remember from that show was the animated "Brand New Key". Give that girl a Karma!

Did no one appreciate the Monkeys? The Man from UNCLE? Get Smart? Rocky and Bullwinkle? But television has declined as more and more channels flood us with drivel....... Like Faux Nooooz. What would Edward R Murrow think of that cheesy sleazy excuse for news? Did anyone else see "Harvest of Shame?"
