a great look at the Liberty Belle. As i said the B-17 was pure art. Brings back some memories for me, An uncle flew a lot of missions from England to Germany as the belly gunner, You had to be small to fit in the bubble. He told tales forty years later that still gave him the actual shaking chills. Many many brave crews flew in those. I miss him:(

More US servicemen died in the Air Corps than the Marine Corps. While completing the required 30 missions, an airman's chance of being killed was 71%.

They had a tiny bomb bay but they made up for that with the highly accurate Norden bomb sight. The men who flew in them were brave and worthy of the utmost respect. Flying by day was highly risky, Luftwaffe interceptors would sometimes fire salvos of rockets into them. It's amazing that this one made it back: After landing it broke in two:
