I'm not up on either anymore, but Nascar seems to be more popular among the common folk. Attending the Indy 500 is probably more of a celebrity event like the Super Bowl.

I've been interested in the Indy500 for 20 years, ever since Nigel Mansell took part in it But I've never known very much about Nascar.

I guess so, F1 isn't like it used to be either. We have stock car racing in Britain too, it's not as popular as F1 but it makes good telly. I'll put a clip up in the great sporting moments thread.

It's awesome. But it's also something like 250,000+ people. Trust me, there aren't that many celebrities in the entire country! Plenty of "common folk" there.
