Aren't we so lucky? We get to play Ghana first. This is the side that beat us in the last 2 World Cups and eliminated us both times. Then we get Portugal with arguably one of the world's best players, Christiano Ronaldo. We actually beat Portugal in the first game of the 2002 World Cup where we eventually lost to Germany in the quarter-finals, our deepest run ever. Then of course we end the group stage with a game against Germany, one of the strongest teams on the planet. We'll be lucky to get one point, never mind get out of the group stage alive. But any team that wants to go anywhere in the World Cup has to beat the best, there is no way around that so sink or swim.
I see our best chance is that we MUST beat Ghana in the first game, get the 3 points, hope that Portugal and Germany tie and get at least 1 point from either the Portugal or Germany game and pray Ghana can earn points from their matches with Portugal and Germany. Any scenario like that or better (and a lot of luck) could earn us a trip to the knockout round of 16. If we make it to the next round, we will face the first or second place side from Group H (Belgium, Algeria, Russia, South Korea).

Soccer remains the red headed step child of US sports. And the rest of the world enjoys throwing rocks at the Duffus Dragon's futball teams. But no worry. The Super Bowl will be here soon and Ghana will never offer any competition on the gridiron.

The Super Bowl will be here soon and Ghana will never offer any competition on the gridiron. US sports aside, there is no comparison in world popularity of the 2 sports. Soccer is played in virtually every single country on the planet and is the most popular sport in almost all countries. NFL football is play in the US and Canada and on some occasions in a small handful of other countries, but is mostly restricted to American athletes. It is the most popular sport in the US but nowhere else on the planet. The World Cup final is usually viewed by at least 3 billion people while Super Bowl is viewed by a couple of hundred million people. And I'm a Jets fan (ugh).
