Paris (AFP) - French experts have ruled out a theory that Yasser Arafat was killed by poisoning and believe he may have died of natural causes, a source close to the probe into the Palestinian leader's death said Tuesday. The French experts' findings differ significantly from those of Swiss scientists, who said last month that their research offered some support for the suggestion Arafat was killed by polonium poisoning. "The report rules out the poisoning theory and goes in the sense of a natural death," the source said. news.yahoo.com/arafat-39-not-poisoned-39-french-experts-161253510.html

One of my friends used to be in the Army and accidentally met Arafat on Cyprus back in the 1980's after the PLO had been kicked out of Lebanon, he'd befriended a girl on the island and had crashed over at her place on a couch in full UN uniform with sidearm. That morning some of her flatmates were getting quite agitated a programme on the telly, not speaking Greek he asked her what they were angry about, she explained that they were speaking Arabic, it was a programme about Israel, and that they were Palestinians, then Yasser Arafat walked into the room and he said "Oh you are Palestinians!" He had a chat with Arafat for about half an hour, made his excuses and left.
After a debrief when he got back to his regiment, he was put on the next flight back home as his neutrality had been comprimised.
