---snip-- English --- www.spiegel.de/international/germany/merkel-wins-third-term-in-general-election-a-923755.htmlElection Triumph: Merkel Victorious But Faces Tough Talks. By David Crossland Chancellor Angela Merkel won a resounding election victory on Sunday as her conservatives scored their best result since reunification in 1990. It's a personal triumph for her, but she still faces tough negotiations to form a stable government. Angela Merkel's conservatives won a stunning victory in Sunday's general election, sharply increasing their share of the vote by some eight points to around 42 percent and putting her on track for a third term. Danke. Be gut.

Unfortunately she was the driving force behind the Lisbon treaty after the previous failed attempt by Valery Giscard D'Estaing, to introduce an EU constitution in which nations were bullied into signing, by her and Gordon Brown.

Ja, ist true, same time der was no choice in kind of way. I prefer her in some way, do not agree in full spectrum. Was interesting ist constant attacks/moves by France, und don't see her making any commitments. JMO/Thought. Danke for response.

I think she shouldn't be bailing Greece (or other Eurozone countries) out, Greece and any other failing Eurozone nations should leave the Euro and return to using their old currencies like the Drachma & the Lira.
The Euro is very much a failed experiment and I'm so glad Britain never joined it.

Danke. www.spiegel.de/international/europe/europe-waits-to-see-if-merkel-victory-means-german-policy-change-a-924040.html Angela Merkel clearly won Sunday's German election, but she will need a coalition partner. Many in Europe are hoping an alliance with the center-left Social Democrats would mean a change in the chancellor's harsh austerity policies. Those hopes may be dashed. French President François Hollande didn't exactly sound euphoric as he delivered his statement on Sunday evening on Chancellor Angela Merkel's resounding victory in the German general election. He said tepidly that he hoped for a continuation of "our close cooperation in the challenge of constructing Europe." He then invited Merkel to visit Paris once she completes the process of assembling a coalition government. --snip---

Austerity is the natural consequence of living beyond ones means, the Greeks have found this the hard way.
