Possibly the most beautiful of all airliners. Vickers VC10's and Super VC10's served in many airlines of the 1960's 70's and 80's including BOAC and it's successor British Airways. Many of these planes were converted to tankers in 1993 to replace the older Handley Page Victor Tankers. After 47 years of flying these magnificent aircraft are leaving service, today. They have been replaced by the new A330 based Voyager tankers.

In the 1970's a VC10 was used as a flying testbed for the then new Rolls Royce RB211 jet engine. The power of this one RB211 was so much greater than that of the two Rolls Royce Conway engines that the fuselage was actually distorted by the thrust after a few flights and the airframe had to be scrapped.
